She said it was easy

Easy to shut off.

He said so too.

So did two million others.

Easy to shut off the world,

Walk blindly through the street.

Look at the roses,

The sun shines every day.

And there were another two million

Who disagreed.

And millions others who grew like weeds

In jungles of waste,

On the banks of rivers,

Of dying hope;

And they didn’t even know.

And she moaned in her sleep

When all that she shut off

Shut off so easily

Came back to life
