THE BOOK OF DAYS
Description
The Book of Days is an ongoing collection of illustrations. It is an experiment in tedium, discipline and positive thought. It was once a journal, where each blank page or page of sadness or anger will now be replaced with an illustration.

This is the Book of days >
Its a handbound book that I recieved as a birthday present.I write regularly and I used it as a journal for a year, and only a few blank pages remained at the end.
When I returned to it, and re-read some of the pages I noticed that there were some days of rants, some days of boredom, blank sheets of unwanted emotions. When I saw these pages, it occurred to me that as an artist, I should constantly be creating, and as friend once put it:
"Boredom is Creative Suicide."
With this thought, I began illustrating over the text, some of which is angsty, some of it sad, in an attempt to erase the negativity and bring to the beautiful book some constructive positivity. I didn't anticipate the form it would take, and just began.
One of the first pages was just a few Post-Its put together to mask some of the underlying text.

The second was a blank sheet which took a very different form of illustration, but the third was one where I started playing with idea of tedium that could develop into discipline. As in calligraphy, these illustrations could be disciplined, in the form of repitition and detail, cultivating patience and becoming almost meditative. The media began to expand from pens and simple doodling to painting and creating detailed imagery. The Book of Days is still in the making until each page in the book is filled with something of beauty.
